Scholars officially returned home on Sunday, June 21, as the 8th Annual Successteam Leadership Academy (SLA2K26) began at the University of South Carolina Aiken. The week-long experience marks the official launch of the 2026–2027 Successteam program year and welcomes scholars into an immersive environment centered on leadership, personal growth, and future readiness.

Hosted on the USCA campus, this year’s Leadership Academy brings together rising freshmen through graduating seniors for a transformational experience designed to strengthen leadership capacity, build meaningful relationships, and prepare scholars for success beyond high school. From the moment of arrival, the atmosphere reflected the culture Successteam has intentionally cultivated for more than a decade—a safe, structured, and inspiring environment where young people are challenged to lead with purpose.

For many scholars, the Leadership Academy represents far more than a summer program. It serves as the gateway into a year-long leadership journey built on accountability, service, professional development, and personal excellence. Throughout the week, scholars will participate in leadership workshops, team-building experiences, college and career readiness sessions, community-building activities, and reflective conversations that encourage them to discover who they are, define where they are going, and develop the skills needed to get there.

Successteam’s mission has always been rooted in creating opportunities that empower young people to reach their fullest potential. Through leadership development, mentorship, professional exposure, and community engagement, the organization continues to connect scholars with experiences that transform potential into purpose.

This year’s Academy continues that mission through intentional programming focused on developing future-ready leaders. Rather than simply learning about leadership, scholars will be expected to practice it daily. They will collaborate with peers, engage with mentors, learn from guest speakers, and connect with community partners who are committed to helping them strengthen communication, discipline, confidence, professionalism, and decision-making.

Day Zero establishes the foundation for the week ahead by introducing the expectations that define the Successteam experience: engagement, accountability, respect, integrity, and continuous growth. As scholars settled into campus life, they were reminded that Successteam is preparing them for far more than a successful week. Every activity, conversation, and opportunity is intentionally designed to prepare them for college, careers, leadership, and life.

The 8th Annual Successteam Leadership Academy represents another milestone in the organization’s growing legacy of youth development throughout South Carolina and Georgia. Since its founding in 2015, Successteam has remained committed to equipping young people with the knowledge, experiences, and support systems necessary to become confident leaders within their schools, communities, and future professions.

As the Academy officially begins, one thing is certain: scholars are not simply attending a program—they are stepping into an experience intentionally designed to shape how they lead, how they serve, and how they envision the future they are capable of creating.

“We believe every young person deserves access to the tools, relationships, and opportunities required to accomplish their dreams.”
